Shanghai

We toured around Shanghai today; old Chinese quarter, Shanghai museum and the Bund. Pretty neat, much more of a crowded big city feel than in Beijing. It rained most of the day, but cleared up after the sun when down. The Bund, which is the big financial western district, was very cool. The east side of the river is very americanized and the west side is still very 19th century British. When we went to the "China town" of Shanghai it is one of the few areas in Shanghai that is actually traditional chinese style. Our local guide here in Shanghai seems much more globally educated and willing to talk about politics than any other local I have met on this whole trip. It is fun to talk with him. Tonight we met up with a couple that we met on the Yangtze River cruise for drinks, Dave and Lynette. They are on a one year trip around the world, very cool. I hope we get to keep in touch with them after we get home. Over all a good day...
