Made it to Xian

We made it to Xian and this hotel is totally sweet!

So as promised, I added a picture of the monkeys. The Yangtze cruise was pretty sweet. Day one was the Ghost City of Fengdu. Day two was the three gorges and the lesser gorges. And today was the Three Gorges Damn. We got to Yichang at about 1:30pm and our guide Betty showed us around the city for a few hours before taking us to the airport. We saw the Three Gorges museum, a silk embrodry shop and then went for tea. Now we are in Xian in a totally sweet hotel. It is too bad we are only here for 2 nights. We got see the Terra Cotta Army tomorrow.

So the first picture is of the Qutang Gorge (1st gorge) which we hit at about 7am. It is the most famous one. The scene is on the back of the 10 yuan note. Then we went to the lessor gorges where the monkeys were seen. Then the second picture was of the Wu Gorge (2nd gorge) which we hit at about 1pm. And the last picture is of the Xiling Gorge (3rd gorge) which we got to at about 5pm. This was supposed to be the most dangerous one with a point called Hell's Gate. But since they raised the water level with the damn project all the rapids are gone in it is very tame. The was one hell of a day.

I have heard no news of an earthquake. But we are in China so news doesn't really travel here. All you see on TV is replays of the Olympics. Everything is going well.
